The Secretary of State for Education announced on Wednesday 18th March that all Schools in England should close from Monday 23rd March 2020 until further notice. The school is uploading work on the school website each week, for all year groups to access, to enable home learning to continue, and is providing printed packs to families without internet/broadband access.
When the school was closed, we were fully prepared to support the Government’s request to stay open, for our key worker families and parents of children with EHCPs. The letter distributed to parents and carers on Thursday 19th March regarding key worker provision is available below. Please do not assume that this childcare is available unless you are contacted by the school. The school can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org in the normal way.
We are sure that you can appreciate the challenges we have faced remaining open for key worker and EHCP children; with illness and self-isolation impacting on attendance and staffing levels. We are very grateful to the school community for their support, as well as the integrity and commitment demonstrated by staff during this unprecedented time.
On Sunday 10th May the Prime Minister outlined the government’s roadmap for easing the current measures in place. This statement and the guidance released included the intention for the phased reopening of schools for certain groups of children. For our school this related to Year 6 pupils, and we also included Year 5 pupils. Please read the letters below regarding the plans and preparation for this partial reopening. There has been a smooth transition back to school for those Year 6 pupils attending from Tuesday 2nd June, and for the additional Year 5 and other 'vulnerable' groups.
We will keep our parents updated on further developments and other key messages via Parentmail and the school website. We will be releasing further information shortly regarding the full reopening of the school in September 2020.
We wish all our families all the very best and hope everyone remains healthy.
